Rules

• It is not hard to understand simple present tense. you just need to know that we use simple perfect tense for things or events or situation happened in past and finished already but its effects we can feel since now. In other words, simple perfect tense always has a connection between the past and present.

• Don’t use this tense with adverbials(yesterday,2 days ago, etc.) which refer to past time which is finished.

For example,

  • I have seen that film yesterday.

( false) because we use task ending time in this sentence.

  • I have seen that film 10 times.

(true)because there is no task ending time.

In other words, when we use time in past sentence, it becomes  simple past or past perfect. for simple perfect don’t use time.

Let me clear the little concept here.

You can only use time adverbials( just, only just, recently) for simple perfect tense.

For example,

Indians have just launched their first missile.

Sunita has recently joined a gym.

You can use adverbial like(so, far, until, now, up to now, yet, ever, never)

Where have you been up to now?

Why you have not gotten the Canada visa yet?

In simple words, you can only use adverbial which does not show any specific time.

We can use it for so many things

Use

1. for something that happened in a past but is important at a time of speaking.

I have completed this exam. So, l don’t have to complete it again.

I can’t pay my bill. I have lost my keys.

2. when we talk about our experience.

I have enough experience for this job.

Have you ever met Mr. Patel?

I have never met Mr. Patel.

3. for something, we have done several times.

He has written 3 books and he works on another one.

I have played football ever since I was a teenager.
