Speaking part 2(cue card) : Describe an advertisement that you don’t like, with follow up questions – ielts 7 band speaking – dynamic IELTS
7. Describe an advertisement that you don’t like
- When did you see it?
- What is it about?
- Where you saw it/how you came to know about it?
- Why you didn’t like it
I remember seeing an advertisement promoting Lay’s chips that I did not like. I saw it a few years ago while watching TV. The advertisement was about the different flavors of Lay’s chips and how they are the perfect snack for any occasion. It showed people eating Lay’s chips at parties, on the beach, and even during a movie.
I did not like this advertisement because it promoted unhealthy snacking habits, which can lead to health problems like obesity and heart disease. In fact, after seeing this advertisement, I started eating more Lay’s chips, which led to me getting addicted to them and eventually having health issues that I am still recovering from.
Moreover, the marketing tactics employed by these companies can be misleading and target vulnerable populations, such as children, who may not fully understand the implications of their food choices. By normalizing unhealthy eating habits, these advertisements can perpetuate a culture that values convenience and indulgence over health and well-being.
Advertisements that promote unhealthy food options can also contribute to the rise of obesity and related health issues, which can have significant economic costs. Obesity-related illnesses can lead to increased healthcare costs, missed work days, and lower productivity.
Overall, I believe that advertisements promoting unhealthy foods like chips and other snacks should not be shown on television. Instead, advertisements should promote healthier food options and encourage people to make better choices for their overall health and well-being.
