People have frequently argued about what constitutes professional attire and proper business attire. Some people believe that the administrators of the companies and the top management should not be concerned with the employees’ attire. Although this sentiment has its limitations, in my opinion, it is mainly justifiable because other factors are more important to success. Not only for clients and consumers but also for employees themselves, appearance matters. An employee who presents themselves professionally at work is like an actress getting ready for a show. This indicates that a company’s success is increasingly reliant on the outcomes of its labor. The success of such a company is hampered by an employee who looks good but is unable to code or make a significant contribution to a productive team. The emphasis on intrinsic qualities and abilities is a reflection of a greater social trend that places less value on factors unrelated to actual accomplishment.
In conclusion, the recognition of the value of actual work outweighs the slight advantages of dress codes for professionalism. Hence, businesses should work to uphold principles that have a real influence.
