The increasing demand for oil and gas has made it necessary to look for these energy sources in remote and untouched natural places. Do you think the advantages of locating oil and gas in these areas outweigh the disadvantages of damaging these places? IELTS 7 band essay -2023
Introduction
This phenomenon to dig for resources such as gas and oil, to meet the rising demand, in isolated, unexplored natural areas, has put more strain on the environment globally. Although using more fossil fuels may be the easiest and most cost-effective option, doing so could lead to several environmental issues like carbon emissions and global warming. In light of this, I desired the drawbacks of the aforementioned idea might outweigh their benefits.
Body paragraph -1
The energy demand is increasing along with the population, which drives people to look for new fossil fuel sources all around the world. Moreover, the frequent usage of extraction techniques harms the ecosystem during oil and gas development in these regions. Particularly, there is a chance that drilling and fracking would release methane, a strong greenhouse gas, and that burning natural gas will start widespread wildfires. Drilling would be detrimental to the ecology, and any spills would be catastrophic for the environment. For instance, the Antarctic, which is home to several glaciers and species like polar bears and penguins, is a region where governments want to dig.
Body paragraph -2
Also, we shouldn’t be looking to use such kinds of energy any longer due to health concerns and global warming. It is clear that widespread usage of these fuels has polluted many cities and resulted in ill health for the populace in areas with heavy car use. Moreover, carbon dioxide is being emitted into the atmosphere, which could put our entire existence at risk.
Conclusion
In conclusion, although finding new sources of oil and gas can help us maintain and increase our quality of life, the negative effects outweigh this since we will continue to hurt the environment, our health, and the planet. Thus, in my opinion, people ought to stop looking for new places to explore and start looking for sources of alternative energy.
