In some countries, there has been an increase in the number of advertisements that try to persuade children to buy snacks, toys, and other goods. Some people claim this is unfair as parents feel under pressure to buy these kinds of things for their children. To what extent do you agree or disagree? IELTS 7 band essay -2023
Introduction
Children are exposed to numerous advertisements that persuade them to buy food, games, and other things due to the increase in technology and digital media. When parents believe it to be unjustified, in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with that. These commercials, in my view, could have a negative impact on a child’s mind.
Body paragraph -1
I concur with others who say that seeing these adverts has a negative impact. The ads for unhealthy eating goods encourage children to consume junk foods thus resulting in future health issues if consumed in excess. For instance, a youngster who loves a particular flavor of potato chips may get dependent on it, which results in the child’s body absorbing too much salt and fat. His cerebral development may be slowed as a result, and the risk of childhood obesity may also rise. Similar to this, many toys that are sold don’t seem to be appropriate for a child’s emotional growth. The games may also be very violent and addicting. For instance, violent images in games like Call of Duty and Pubg may encourage young people to act arrogantly.
Body Paragraph -2
I would certainly agree that not all commercials for kids cause these problems. Several gaming devices use an interactive technique and are created with educational objectives in mind. For instance, Lego blocks allow kids to build and reproduce things from their imaginations while giving parents a chance to spend quality time with their kids and shape their minds in the proper ways. Nonetheless, both kids and parents need to be aware of the introduction of innovative items that are intended to promote kids’ healthy growth and development. Ads should thus be promoted logically, perhaps by highlighting eco- friendly toys and healthy food.
Conclusion
In conclusion, not all child-targeted commercials are detrimental. One cannot, however, support the spread of advertisements that deceive children and are known to be damaging to them. To make sure that technology is having a beneficial influence on children’s attitudes, parents must watch over the games and gadgets that their kids play with and also encourage them to eat healthy food.
